Our History

Apache started life as the Old Kelleians (Kelly College) at the International Henley 7s in 1998, led by brothers Adam and Jonas Hurst. After some early success (which came as a surprise!) we decided we needed a ‘cooler’ name – Apache played their first tournament in 2000, and the name stuck. What started out as some old school friends playing 7s for fun developed quickly into an elite squad of 7s specialists playing in tournaments as diverse as the National Pub 7s in Harpenden, to the International Invitation Dubai 7s.  From humble beginnings, the side has continued to grow in stature and reputation and is now one of the best-known invitation teams on the circuit.

We have won many tournaments over the years, helped develop some fine International 7s players, and have achieved some fantastic results: we finished 3rd in the 2012 Super Sevens Series, were awarded ‘Team of the Year’ by UK Rugby Sevens, and finished 3rd in the inaugural GB7s series in 2013.  The future is looking bright, and we are aiming for even greater success over the next few seasons.
