APACHE 7s

ONE OF THE UK'S LONGEST STANDING SEVENS TEAM

ABOUT US

Originally an old boys’ team, Apache was set up by Adam and Jonas Hurst many years ago, but the ethos remains the same; although the game (and the team) have come a long way since then, our basic ideals have not.

Players can come to training or will be given a ‘trial’ run-out on occasion, and although performance and ability counts for a lot, the ‘personality’ has to fit too; we are always a popular team with spectators as we make time to talk to anyone interested in the team. Players should always be aware that they are joining a ‘club’ and we are all friends on and off the field.

We field 3 sides over the course of the season, which allows us to retain loyal Apache players who may not play in the top side but who can still do a job in one of the other teams and remain a part of the Apache family; it also means new players can be seen in one team or another.

Apache – the senior side, which plays in all international events, the SSS and GB7s, as well as the more prestigious tournaments around the UK;

Apache Raiders – the ‘A’ side, featuring regular players from the top team, new players with a good 7s CV, and players on the verge of breaking into the senior side;

Apache Braves – the ‘Academy’ side, where young players can be seen and learn the game, ageing Apache legends can pass on their experience and retain some form of match fitness, and game-time can be guaranteed for anyone not making the senior squads on any given weekend.
